Stone Way Safety Improvements

Project Overview
We’re making safety and accessibility improvements along Stone Way N between N 36th St and N Allen Pl. These changes will increase visibility and create safer and more comfortable crossings for people walking, rolling, and biking. We expect to being construction in 2026.
Project elements include:
- New marked crosswalks
- Intersection visibility improvements
- Pedestrian islands
- Median islands
- Flashing pedestrian crossing signs
- New bike markings

What to expect during construction
We expect to build this project in 2026. During construction, you can expect:
- Crews working from 7 AM to 5 PM, usually on weekdays but sometimes on weekends
- Noise, vibration, dust, and debris
- “No Parking” signs at least 72 hours before construction starts
- Construction materials and parking impacts near the work sites
- Crosswalk and sidewalk closures, and detours for people walking and biking
- Temporary traffic lane changes
- Changes in construction schedules due to weather or the availability of work crews and/or materials
Funding
This work is funded by the 2024 voter-approved Seattle Transportation Levy and directly supports our Vision Zero goal to end traffic deaths and serious injuries on city streets by 2030.
