Take A Tree Walk

Trees for Neighborhoods offers over 40 self-guided tree walks throughout Seattle. Created in partnership with volunteers, these walks celebrate the conifer wonderland of winter, the brilliance of spring blooms, the shady fullness of summer, and the bountiful color of fall. No matter the season, trees in Seattle are fascinating to explore. On walks you will learn about each tree's name and species, unique characteristics, history, cultural importance and more. We invite you to join us in celebrating Seattle’s awe-inspiring urban forest by taking self-guided tree walks through your own or another beloved neighborhood.

Featured Tree Walk: Seattle Waterfront
In September 2025, the grand opening of the Seattle Waterfront heralded a new era for an iconic Seattle place. In celebration of this new community space, created after the removal of the Alaskan Way Viaduct, volunteers and staff created two new Waterfront Tree Walks. One walk, a ten-tree short loop created in partnership with the Seattle Aquarium, is perfect for families. The longer Waterfront Tree Walk spans about ½ mile from Pike Place Market down to Habitat Beach and highlights the incredible trees, green stormwater infrastructure, and environmental ingenuity of this space.
