RV Client Outreach

SPU provides routine wastewater disposal services to people living in recreational vehicles (RVs) on Seattle’s streets approximately 10 workdays per month. This community-supported program gives people access to basic sanitation and reduces water pollution.

Outreach volunteers are essential to this work; they work in pairs to offer services, support, and supplies to RV clients and residents. 

Typical volunteer activities

A typical day for a volunteer may include; collecting supplies from a partner non-profit or SPU warehouse, traveling to a team gathering point in a selected neighborhood, participating in a safety and operational plan review, and then traveling with a volunteer partner to offer services, support, and supplies to possible clients.  Teams coordinate via handheld radios to share information and work together as a team.
