OIG Certification of OPA Cases

OIG certifies cases investigated by the Office of Police Accountability (OPA) on three elements: timeliness, thoroughness, and objectivity. A case that is deemed sufficient in all three areas receives a full certification. The memorandum in that case is typically a simple statement of certification. If a case is deemed insufficient on one or more elements, the case will receive a partial certification (or null certification if failing on all three elements). In those cases, the memorandum will discuss the reasons for the lack of full certification. Partial or null certification case numbers are marked with an asterisk (*). See cases by year in the left sidebar.
